How to choose the right cruise for you.

All cruise lines and cruise ships are not created equal. There are differences between them. Some things to consider when choosing a cruise are price, size of the ship, the destination, the type of cruise that you want to go on.

Do you want to go on an all-adult cruise? A river cruise such as Viking may be suitable for you if you like to explore and you don’t want the casino and party lifestyle. Or maybe you do want to party on your cruise. Then Virgin Cruises may be more your style.

And then there are luxury cruise lines that are more expensive that cater mostly to adults such as Oceania, Tauck, and Seven Seas. Luxury cruise lines usually have more perks included and offer a driver from the airport and laundry service. Celebrity is considered a luxury cruise however, there are many choices of room categories from no perks to all- included and inside cabins to family suites and Aqua class and Retreat that have their own specialty restaurants.

Do you like to party and bring your family of young children onboard? Carnival has activities for adults and children and is known as a party ship. The prices of Carnival cruises vary according to the length of the cruise and the size of the ship. This goes for Royal Caribbean as well.

If you like big ships with a lot of choices of things to do, then Royal Caribbean is a good choice., they have the largest ships of all.  Some smaller Royal Caribbean ships have less activities and less walking and can get into ports that the larger ships can’t. Smaller ports such as Tampa have the older, smaller Royal Caribbean ships.

Some other small ships that can get in small places are Windstar Yacht Cruising and Avalon Waterways. These are both luxury cruises.

Last, but not least, are the exploration cruises that go to places like Iceland, the Galapagos and Antarctica. These are usually smaller sturdy ships that can get closer to the location to explore. It’s important to know that only 100 passengers are allowed to disembark to explore at a time and there are a limited number of these cruises for conservation reasons. Some of the Exploration cruises are Hurtigruten and Lindblad Explorations. The cost for an exploration cruise is higher than an ocean cruise.
